The concept began in 1982 with the Satellite Agency Network (SAN) of New England in response to changes in the Independent Agency System.  At the time, many local agencies were finding that it was impossible to meet volume requirements, keep markets and survive.  SAN allows the local independent agent to remain independent, keep existing markets while gaining new ones.  Plus, it helps generate additional income and profit sharing without having to sell, merge or cluster.  SIAA and CIAA are building on SAN’s success.

Today, SIAA is successfully growing in 48 of the United States, as well as Puerto Rico and Canada.

With over 3000 members and $5 billion in written premium SIAA has more clout than ever, and continues to grow at an extraordinary rate.  When fully developed it is expected that SIAA will reach $20 billion in premium and 5,000 Members.
